Date & Walnut Scone

In the past, I have trekked to the closest Whole Foods store just to get their Date Walnut Scone.  At times they were out, and I vowed again and again that I will figure out how to make them myself.  There is nothing like starting the day with a freshly baked scone and a cup of coffee.  I am forever grateful to VeganBakingMama for recreating this amazing scone.  I have made it twice in the last week and my family cannot get enough of it either.

Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat organic pastry flour
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup cold Earth Balance buttery spread
- 3/4 cup chopped pitted dates
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup organic sugar
- 3/4 cup organic rice milk
- 2 teaspoons organic vanilla
- 1 tablespoon of zest from a fresh orange (I could not get my act together, so had to skip this one)

Bake at 350F for 25 mins.  Makes about 8 scones.  The detailed instructions are here
